Big Yellow

OVERVIEW

Meet Big Yellow, our sparkling take on Traminette, Indiana's official state grape. It's bright, zesty, and intensely floral, with a nose that stops people mid-sip. And there's a story behind the name: an honest piece of feedback about our gravel parking lot, a flower field, and a song that had been sitting quietly in the background the whole time. Big Yellow isn't just what's in the glass, it's a small, daily declaration of what we choose to protect.

TASTING NOTES:

  • Nose: Fruit-forward notes of apple, pear, and citrus peel lead into standout tropical character — lychee and passionfruit — with rose petal, white pepper, and honeysuckle rounding it out

  • Palate: Bright and zesty on the palette with apple and lightly candied lemons

  • Finish: Long clean and refreshing with a lingering zest

  • Residual Sugar = Low = 14 g/L (just the slightest hint of sweetness)

FUN FACTS:

  • Big Yellow won GOLD in the 2026 Indiana State Fair Commercial Wine Competition

  • Traminette is Indiana's official state grape, bred by crossing Gewürztraminer with a French-American hybrid called Joannes Seyve 23.416.

  • As a hybrid, it requires dramatically fewer fungicide applications than European vinifera grapes like Riesling or Gewürztraminer — a big part of why it fits The Rejoicing Vine's regenerative approach.

  • Big Yellow's was the first wine we release in the new, light-weight bottle. The bottle is made by Ardagh Group, whose North American glass headquarters is in Fishers, Indiana - so the wine, the grape, and the bottle are all Indiana-rooted.

SERVE:

Best served fully chilled around 35-40 F. Place in your refridgerator overnight or at least several hours before serving.

FOOD PAIRINGS:

Big Yellow's high acidity makes it a natural match for fatty and salty foods, and its more intense flavor profile lets it stand up to bolder cheeses than most other white wines.

  • Easy Pairing: Smoked salmon, potato chips, or popcorn...the acidity cuts right through the fat and salt.

  • Showstopper: Tulip Tree Creamery's Nightshade or Blazing Star — bolder cheeses that would overpower a more delicate white, but hold their own against Big Yellow's intensity.
