We’re still bubbling over with excitement after being featured twice on WISH-TV Daybreak through Indiana Grown’s spotlight series! It was such an honor to share how our local roots, sustainable practices, and faith-inspired mission all come together in a glass of The Rejoicing Vine wine.
A Toast to Indiana Grown
The segments were made possible by Indiana Grown - an Indiana Department of Agriculture initiative created to promote products that are grown or made by Hoosiers, for Hoosiers! Indiana Grown has partnered with Wish-TV to connect you with the people and products behind Hoosier farmers and products—celebrating what’s grown and created right here in our state. Tune in every Saturday morning to learn more about Indiana Grown businesses.
As a proud member, we were grateful for the opportunity to highlight the beauty and potential of Indiana agriculture, especially when it comes to wine and sustainability. You may even recall earlier this year when The Rejoicing Vine Led A Panel Discussion on The Importance of Sustainability in Business at the Indiana Grown Symposium.
Sustainable Sips
Stewardship and Kegging Wines
One fun on-air moment came when we talked about sustainability and packaging—something we take very seriously at The Rejoicing Vine.
“The glass for packaging is up to 70% of the carbon footprint of wine.”
That’s why we’ve invested in kegging systems, reusable formats, and local sourcing to drastically cut down our environmental impact. It’s all part of our commitment to Cultivate Life—caring for the soil, the vines, and the future of our planet. Read more about kegging wine and how glass packaging impacts the wine industry.
Indiana Winery where Faith, Community, and Stewardship come together
Beyond grapes and glass, the WISH-TV feature also gave us a chance to share what inspires us spiritually and personally. Our mission, drawn from Isaiah 55, is about offering joy, peace, and abundance—just as the vineyard itself rejoices with new life each season. Through community gatherings like The Happiest Hour (first Friday of each month), we invite everyone—wine lovers, families, and neighbors alike—to share in that joy.
Why Local Wine Matters
Seeing our winery featured on WISH-TV reminded us how much potential Indiana has for producing world-class, sustainably made wine. We hope this story encourages more people to explore Indiana wineries, support Indiana Grown busineses, and raise a glass to local craftsmanship that truly makes a difference.
But before we go, we'd be remiss if we didn't include a delightfully dorky section for all our fellow wine nerds, so here goes. Let's talk about Indiana grapes and their fit for sparkling wine.
⚠️ NERD ALERT!
Things are about to get delightfully dorky. Side effects may include learning, laughter, and an uncontrollable urge to sip slowly and savor.
Indiana Fruit - The Perfect Grape for Bubbles
Another one of our favorite moments on set was getting to share a little winemaker nerd-out moment:
“Indiana grapes are high acid and a perfect profile for sparkling wine.”
It’s true! We so wanted to nerd-out fully on segment but there wasn't enough time. And since we couldn't we figured we'd scratch that itch here...
Every wonder why you find a lot of sweet wines at Indiana wineries? While it's often true that "sugar sells", there's another reason and it has to do with the characteristics of the grapes we harvest here.
Ever heard of the term terroir? It's a French term that means "sense of place". It's often used in the wine world because the characteristics of grapes can change based on where they're grown. For example, cooler climates produce grapes that are higher in acid and lower in sugar - even with the same grape varieties. The characteristics of the grapes set the foundation for the winemaker and often dictate what style of wine can be produced - whether the grape should be used to make a sparkling, white, rosé, or red.
Indiana grapes are no different. Because of our climate, soils, and the grape varieties we can grow here our fruit tents to be high in acid, low in sugar content, and low in tannins.
For all three characteristics - Acid ✅, Tannin ✅, and Sugar Level ✅ - Indiana grapes check the box on the perfect profile for sparkling wine.

Because of our mission to be good stewards and strengthen community we felt sourcing local was imperative. And since local fruit is so well suited for sparkling wine we decided to accept the challenge to be Indiana's only sparkling focused winery. Sparkling wine allows us to make the purest expression of our terroir here in Indiana while also supporting local growers (psst! it also helps us eliminate waste through kegging as we mentioned earlier).
