Your First Bubbles & Brushes Event: A How-To Guide

Attending a Bubbles & Brushes event at The Rejoicing Vine is an exciting and creative way to explore your artistic side. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, these events provide a fun opportunity to socialize, learn more about our winery, and create a beautiful piece of art—all while enjoying our collection of sparkling wines. While this is your typical paint and sip experience, even so, it’s nice to know what to expect. In this how-to guide, we’ll walk you through the essential steps to ensure you have a lovely time at our Bubbles & Brushes event!

Register and Confirm Attendance: Once you've decided to attend a Bubbles & Brushes event, register and confirm your attendance via our website. We require pre-registration, so make sure to book your spot in advance to secure your place at an easel. Follow the provided instructions for registration, including any necessary payment, to confirm your registration.

Bring the Artist (Dressed Comfortably): On the day of the event, be sure to wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting paint or wine on. Although aprons can be provided, accidents do happen, so it's best to wear something you wouldn't worry about staining. Consider bringing layers if you tend to get cold, since the tasting room can get chilly. If you plan to have some wine, don’t forget your ID!

Arrive with Time to Spare: Plan your journey to ensure you arrive at the event early or on time. Arriving early allows you to settle in, choose your easel, and familiarize yourself with our selection of wines. We find sipping a glass of wine is the perfect way to shake off pre-painting jitters, so we will begin the event on the dot by offering tastings and pouring glasses. Arriving early offers a great opportunity to meet and mingle with other attendees before the sipping and painting really begins. Wine, along with other non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, will be available throughout the evening. If you would like to bring your own snacks, you are welcome to!

Learn your Materials: The Rejoicing Vine will provide all the necessary supplies, including canvases, acrylic paint, brushes, easels, and aprons. However, if you prefer to use your own materials, check with us via email in advance to see if it's allowed or recommended. Once you are at the event and seated at your easel, take a moment to view your workspace and available materials. Instructors will walk through the use of each material and associated techniques. There are no silly questions, so if you have any about your tools please do ask!

Watch the Demonstration: Once the event begins, pay attention to the instructor leading the session. They will guide you through the painting process, step by step, providing demonstrations and sharing helpful techniques. Listen carefully, ask questions, and don't hesitate to seek clarification if something is unclear. Like we said, there are no silly questions! Classes are roughly 2 hours long, so paying attention to the demonstration can help you make efficient use of limited time.

Embrace Creativity and Mindfulness: While the instructor will provide a specific painting for the   session, feel free to use some liquid courage and add your personal touch to the artwork. Experiment with colors, brush strokes, and techniques to make the painting your own. You might even use painting as a mindfulness exercise. Check in with yourself and your surroundings, settling into the present moment and into the act of painting. Let critical thoughts pass you by, and instead allow your intuition to guide you and your brush. Remember, there are no rules and there are no mistakes in painting. The goal is to paint, drink, and have fun. If you’ve got at least two of those down, you’re doing alright!

Take Breaks to Socialize: Bubbles & Brushes events will include breaks to allow attendees to relax, mingle, top off, and enjoy refreshments. Utilize these breaks to connect with fellow participants, exchange ideas, and gain inspiration. Sharing experiences and tips can enhance your overall enjoyment and provide a sense of community.

Seek Feedback and Guidance: Throughout the event, don't hesitate to seek feedback or guidance from the instructor. They are there to assist and support you in your artistic journey. If you encounter any challenges or have questions about a particular technique, ask for help. Feedback can help you improve your skills and gain valuable insights.

Sign your Masterpiece: As you put the finishing touches on your painting, take a moment to sign your artwork. You can use the front, back, or side of the canvas, the choice is yours. The traditional location of a signature is the lower-right corner of the painting. If you forget this step, you can always use a permanent marker to sign your masterpiece at home.

Clean up and Preserve Your Artwork: Once the painting session concludes, make sure to clean your brushes, palette, and workspace. If you were using your own materials, pack them up safely and neatly. Take pride in your artwork and ensure it makes it home safe by allowing it to dry properly before transporting it home. Acrylic paint dries quickly, so you shouldn’t have to wait long, if at all. Lay the painting flat in your vehicle facing up, just in case any wet paint remains.

Reflect and Share: Take a moment to reflect on your experience and the artwork you created. Did you surprise yourself? Did you do better than you’d imagined? Appreciate the progress you made during the event and the enjoyment you had through the process. Share your masterpiece with friends and family by displaying it in your home or through sharing photographs on social media. Celebrate your accomplishment and inspire others to explore their artistic side!

Attending a Bubbles & Brushes event at the Rejoicing Vine is a fantastic way to engage with your creativity, learn new techniques, and meet like-minded individuals in the comfort of our tasting room. By following these steps, you can ensure a successful and enjoyable experience. Remember to embrace the process, have fun, and let your intuition guide your brush. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned artist, these events offer a valuable opportunity to explore your artistic potential and create a beautiful piece of art. Cheers to that!
